What I Read in February

February was the month of love and, whilst i don’t have a significant other, i did spend last month doing plenty of the things i love..reading included!

I have yet to make a dent in my Goodreads goal for the year but I’m still happy to have got some reading in during the shortest month of the year.

Let’s get into it, then…

I bought this one on my Kindle a while ago and picked it up on a whim last month. It was a story about a mythical creature we all know of but with plenty of twists and turns throughout. Not the most groundbreaking tale but it was certainly beautifully written prose and I raced through it.

After reading - and loving Cliff’s debut - I decided to give her second offering a go last month (especially after I saw it on Emily’s Instagram ). It took on the ever interesting and slightly terrifying prospect of putting our love and life in the hands of technology. There’s humour and lots of interesting parts to this, it took a little while to get into but once I was into it I got through it so quick I was gutted to reach the last page.

I’m slowly but surely making my way through my NetGalley shelf and enjoyed this one. Another Groundhog Day esque read but with a poignant edge. It made the sentimental mess in me feel all kinds of emotions and reminded me to keep my loved ones closer.

So, there we have it, the three books I read in February. Have you read any of these books? What did you read last month?

Top Albums of 2022: Part One

Here is the first part of my ‘top albums of 2022’. Featuring spector, miles kane and more! After the pandemic delayed the release of eagerly awaited songs and albums for many artists, 2022 proved to be the year the music industry got firmly back on its feet. So many new releases found their way into our ears (and onto our playlists) last year that I couldn’t possibly fit them into one post - believe me, I tried! After much deliberation, I narrowed it down to seventeen (yes seventeen! ) releases that I couldn’t stop listening to last year (and will probably continue to listen to this year - sorry neighbours!). So, let’s get into it! Here are the first 10 releases that have wormed their way on to my ‘Top Albums of 2022’, with release dates from January to May 2022.

Top Tracks of February

I’m playing long overdue catch up but, as february is the month celebrating love, i might as well shout out about one of mine…music! I might be yet to find someone who’ll make me a playlist (sickening I know) but that didn’t stop me from finding new tracks to obsess over in February. January proved to be a good month for music and February seemed to keep this theme going, with plenty of offerings from music heavyweights and newbies alike. Here are my Top Tracks of February 2023… Hard mf 2 luv - bad sounds The third single from brothers-come-bandmates Bad Sounds, there’s an infectious air to the track (despite its  less than positive sentiment) with its jingly instrumentals and whispery vocals. Whether you’re familiar with the duo or not, this song is a perfect introduction (or way to rediscover) their sound. I’m hoping they come back to somewhere local so I can see them live again, as their songs pack a punch when performed for a crowd. Listen here Monday morning - ten tonnes A tea...

What I Read In March

March WAS a pretty full on month for me but, in amongst the birthdays, gigs and girl’s trips, i actually managed to squeeze in a fair bit of reading. I am slowly but surely making my towards my  Goodreads  goal for the year and glad to say, in March, I’ve done so reading some very good books indeed.  Let’s get into it… After previously being gifted Croucher’s debut, Reputation , I realised I’d not only found a new (to me) author but one whose books I find myself drawn to, not just because of the cool covers. The regency novel might be something we all know plenty about (especially thanks to a certain Netflix series) but Croucher once again twists the narrative, making things a lot more interesting. I follow Emily on Instagram  and, aside from taking gorgeous photos of life and literature, I’m sure she’ll do brilliant things if Heartbreak Houseshare is anything to go by. Its gradual romance and focus on female friendships make for a cosy and comforting read, wh...
