Top Tracks of February

I’m playing long overdue catch up but, as february is the month celebrating love, i might as well shout out about one of mine…music!

I might be yet to find someone who’ll make me a playlist (sickening I know) but that didn’t stop me from finding new tracks to obsess over in February. January proved to be a good month for music and February seemed to keep this theme going, with plenty of offerings from music heavyweights and newbies alike.

Here are my Top Tracks of February 2023…

Hard mf 2 luv - bad sounds

The third single from brothers-come-bandmates Bad Sounds, there’s an infectious air to the track (despite its less than positive sentiment) with its jingly instrumentals and whispery vocals.

Whether you’re familiar with the duo or not, this song is a perfect introduction (or way to rediscover) their sound. I’m hoping they come back to somewhere local so I can see them live again, as their songs pack a punch when performed for a crowd.

Monday morning - ten tonnes

A teaser for his upcoming sophomore album, ‘Dancing, Alone’, Ten Tonnes returned in February with this single.

A simple, indie crowd pleaser, the unique vocals and catchy instrumentals are sure to grab your attention and get you dancing away those Monday blues.

Figure 8 - paramore

One of the 10 songs that make up their seventh album, ‘This Is Why’, Paramore prove that they are more than deserving of their long lasting legacy in the music world with this track.

Whilst it’s not the biggest hit of the album (I’d argue it’s the title track, but what do I know?), it’s an easy to listen to song and a good reintroduction to the band that allowed half of us to embrace our emo phase and the other half to deny it even happening.

Just to keep you satisfied - inhaler

Dublin indie rockers Inhaler dropped their second album, ‘Cuts & Bruises’ in February and this track was one I couldn’t get out of my head.

An extension of the gorgeous indie rock stylings they’ve become known for, the track is full of drawling vocals and interesting instrumentals that are just very, well, satisfying

So, there we have it, my Top Tracks of February 2023. What songs/albums did you have on repeat in January?

What I Read In March

March WAS a pretty full on month for me but, in amongst the birthdays, gigs and girl’s trips, i actually managed to squeeze in a fair bit of reading. I am slowly but surely making my towards my  Goodreads  goal for the year and glad to say, in March, I’ve done so reading some very good books indeed.  Let’s get into it… After previously being gifted Croucher’s debut, Reputation , I realised I’d not only found a new (to me) author but one whose books I find myself drawn to, not just because of the cool covers. The regency novel might be something we all know plenty about (especially thanks to a certain Netflix series) but Croucher once again twists the narrative, making things a lot more interesting. I follow Emily on Instagram  and, aside from taking gorgeous photos of life and literature, I’m sure she’ll do brilliant things if Heartbreak Houseshare is anything to go by. Its gradual romance and focus on female friendships make for a cosy and comforting read, wh...

Top TV of 2022

From apple tv to channel 4, the streaming services gifted us a wealth of brilliant telly last year.. So much so (as seems to be the theme of my posts looking back on last year) I had to limit my list down, narrowing it down to four great shows. No matter what seems to be going on in my life, I always seem to find the time to sit down and watch TV. As much as I (and my waistline!) would love a more active past time, there’s nothing I love more than unwinding with a hot chocolate in front of the telly. It’s truly amazing how shows can take you away from your life and your troubles and grab your attention fully..even just for 30 minutes. This is by no means the full list of TV shows I watched and loved last year but these are all shows that got me thinking, got me a little bit emotional and had me hooked from the offset. Everything i know about love (BBC IPLAYer/Hulu) If you’ve followed the previous version of this blog, or happen to follow me on social media, you’ll have figured ou...

What I Read in February

February was the month of love and, whilst i don’t have a significant other, i did spend last month doing plenty of the things i love..reading included! I have yet to make a dent in my Goodreads  goal for the year but I’m still happy to have got some reading in during the shortest month of the year.  Let’s get into it, then… I bought this one on my Kindle a while ago and picked it up on a whim last month. It was a story about a mythical creature we all know of but with plenty of twists and turns throughout. Not the most groundbreaking tale but it was certainly beautifully written prose and I raced through it. After reading - and loving Cliff’s debut - I decided to give her second offering a go last month (especially after I saw it on Emily’s Instagram  ). It took on the ever interesting and slightly terrifying prospect of putting our love and life in the hands of technology. There’s humour and lots of interesting parts to this, it took a little while to get into bu...
